GARDEN was Quantum Leap’s annual major project of 2025. A brainchild of QL’s artistic director Alice Lee Holland and Choreographer James Batchelor.
I was brought on by local production company Sidestage to assist with the lighting delivery in this project, after having worked with Quantum Leap before this was a no brainer.
The project took place in the Fitters’ Workshop Kingston, In Canberra. A building previously part of the Kingston Powerhouse industrial project.
The 3 large windows were a large influence on the work and the design intention. Being able to use natural sunlight during our daytime performances that evolved during the piece was an absolute treat. Alongside this, nighttime performances used our purpose built rig.
The workhorses of the show consisted of Ayrton Ghibli S Profiles, MAC Quantum washes and a splattering of incandescent pars giving the space some life away from LED.
A full write up of the technical side of the work is available on Sidestage’s website
